The Wild Thing

After almost 2 years, I sat behind the wheel and boy was I scared or what! For about 5 seconds I went blank and I shall not accept that the sweat was because of any reason other than the sun. Anyway. Adjusted the mirrors, turned the key, pressed the clutch, put the car in gear, and I was ready. Not too bad a start...my car (or, for now and still, my brother's car) did not lose direction and neither did it cause any other trouble. I'd given just the right amount of acceleration! That was encouraging.
So there were tinu kids with tinu balls/marbles completely oblivious to everything else, cycles, an ass who wanted to STOP the TRAFFIC so that he could do his own thing, and I don't know what else! Yeah, crazy wild roads! My memories of flyovers and bigger roads are much better. There you stick to your lane and can relax a little. Or was that a farce? Most of Delhi doesn't have lanes, right? I'll know.
A (probably younger) guy on a bike zipped past me and I knew I have to be good enough soon. This is no rocket science. A little more scary, yes, but even so. All my female cousins know the art. There's no way I can not know. Yes, it's competition too. And anyway, right now it's a need for me. Even if it may not be cool to spend a royal part of my income on fuel, it is supercool just to think that I'd be getting that much more independence. I can SO imagine myself abusing already! :D :P
Wish me luck!

PS: World No Tobacco Day. Quit it, not too cool.

Feeling Light

After four days of some heavy-duty going out/eating out my stomach started with its usual cribbing and grounded me for the next three days. So complete fun to complete rest, did it all in a week!
Apart from eating things that I probably shouldn't have, I invested time in pleasing my oldies and my dentist, watching some classics from Chashme Buddoor to Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, trying to fix this bugger of a system that my pc has become and finally giving up on it, breaking my precious sun glasses, getting a new nosepin in a new colour, inheriting my uncle's camera with lots of accessories (till the time I get my own), clicking loads of pictures, fixing up driving lessons for myself, bidding farewell to a friend, getting presents from some people, singing and dreaming and so forth. It's been a good week. Last Wednesday night my feelings were bordering on wanting to burn up all the Micro Economics of the world, and here I am singing Dilbar Mere with Amitabh Bachchan today(:P)...drastic fluctuations pressure, tension and a free mind bring about!
And nothing much, really. Just enjoying my tiny little summer break. Have one more day of it. Excited. :D

First Steps

The newness feels good.

New colours feel fresh.

The new display name sounds good in my head.

The dp is a first in two years. New experience.

Being away from the pressure to study is relaxing.

The new photoblog is keeping me happy.

Being back to my socializing self is goood.

Choko La served me something too sweet in the name of dark chocolate, but good company and good weather kept me cool.

Mithu's gonna be moving somewhere close to my house pretty soon. I'm happy.

So far so good.

Six months?!

I don’t know if I want to run away from things or am finally looking towards doing something sensible but I am looking forward to being busy with a lot of expectation. I don’t remember counting days like this since my 12th standard exams. But the way the last 6 months got spent just surprise me by coming back at me as – “Six Months!”
And an even longer period of non-stop thinking and bad moods. I don’t know why I do it to myself but I seem to have no control. Certain things just got stuck back in my closet and I’m not being able to throw them out. I’m hoping that all the growing up will eventually teach me how to take better care of myself too.

So many people, so many names, so many faces....I won’t say I want to forget them because I don’t, but I want to get away from them all! They haven’t given me as much pain as I’ve myself derived from them and I think I’m done with doing that. The only problem is that I realized this long back, I was just unable to find a mechanism to handle it. There is so much that has stacked up inside me that now I’m even unsure how many more sessions of ‘venting out’ it will take to get things back to normal.
There has not been a day when I have not thought about things – good, bad or ugly. Today I almost feel that I’m living only in my past. And here my present is looking at me with its own set of expectations. From now on, I intend to give my present what it needs and what it wants. I know it is going to be hard - it has been so far - but I guess I need to go that extra mile for myself this time. I need my own attention.

Life In A Metro

I watched the movie Life in a Metro today and quite liked the way all the characters were defined. Each one of them was very real, the stress that they were under was visible and the things that they did made sense. Ranjit was a downright chauvinist and KK Menon did such a brilliant job (as always) that I wanted to go and slap him right away. Yeah, I have the tendency to get carried away with movies and books but even so. Shilpa Shetty’s character was projected in a nice non-judgmental way and the credit for that goes to the makers for sure. There were people who thought that she did the right thing in the end and there were those who thought otherwise, and the way it was left open-ended made it intelligent.
All the actors except Dharmendra did a fairly good job and I...well, enjoyed is not the word...but I did not mind the movie. The music and the band are fab, although the director over-did the showcasing of the band with every song.

A good enough time-pass.

Following The Tag Mobile

Ishani tagged me so I have yet another tag here.
What to do in this tag? Name some people, give them numbers, and answer random questions.

Name:
A) 2 family members.
B) 3 people on your last dialled list.
C) 5 friends.
D) 2 classmates.

For A- Ma (1), Bhaiya (2),
For B- Agneesh (3), Karan (4), Customer Care (5),
For C- Parul (6), Mansi (7), Tarun (8), Ruhi (9), Neha (10),
For D- Amiya (11), Jayant (12).

Q: Have you ever kissed number 7?
Erm...no! Just limited to hugs.

Q: What's the best memory you have of 9?
I can’t remember any one but she’s treated me to a LOT of chips, ice-creams, gol-gappas, etc and tolerated my amazing badminton skills almost every single evening of the last 10 years.

Q: When is the next time you're gonna see 4?
This week itself (hopefully). It’s been 2 bloody years since I last saw him.

Q: Is number 8 pretty?
Sure. He’s got modeling offers. No kidding. :P

Q: What was your first impression of number 10?
First impression? She had a halo ‘coz she was my first ray of hope for survival in college!!

Q: How did you meet 3?
By default. He was a maha-irritating cousin who’s now one the cutest people in my extended family.

Q: Is 11 your best friend?
Okay! Not a nice question to ask. But I don’t have a single best friend so I just got saved!! :D

Q: Have you seen 5 in the last month?
Nope, never. And thank God for that. I’m in a mood to sue them all!

Q: Do you think 12 has a crush on you?
Do you, Jayant? You are the only one who finds my voice cute! :P

Q: When was the last time you saw 2?

Q: Have you ever been to 1's house?
She’s a kind woman and has let me live in hers for the last 20 years, 8 months and 18 days.

Q: When is the next time you'll see 10?
On the 24th, exam day (No change, Ishani :))

Q: Are you really close to 7?
Yeah, we’re Laurel and Hardy.

Q: Have you ever been to the movies with 4?
Yeah, school days! Dunston Checks In, Kal Ho Na Ho, Hum Tum and more such movies that make guys want to kill you by the end of it. :P

Q: Have you ever gotten in trouble along with 2?
I got him more in trouble than I did along with him. Dumb little kid sis I was! No wonder he hated me!

Q: Would you ever go out with number 9?
She’s not tall enough. And I like guys.

Q: What do you and number 3 talk about the most?
I guide wrt padhai. Ha!
But of late, we’ve been talking about cameras. He’s been official photographer for UN programmes and stuff! Whose brother? :D

Q: Do you even know 5?
Hee hee! NOoooo! They suck!

Q: Would you give number 3 a hug?
I always do! :)

Q: Are you in love with number 1?
Of course. Only, I keep poking her and yelling at her, that’s all.

Q: Do you know a secret about 8?
Oh yeahhh!! Quite a few. And there’s one that I told all our other friends about (I’m not good at keeping secrets) and he doesn’t want it to reach him mom. Hihahhaaaa! :D

Q: Describe the relationship between number 10 and number 5:
She doesn’t care much about them.

Q: What is the best thing about your friendship with number 4?
We’re cousins, not friends. So no frandship!

Q: What is the worst thing about number 1?
Her driving skills.

Q: Have you ever danced with number 7?
Yeah! She even trained me before my first ball dance. :P

Q: How long have you known number 12?
3 years!! :)

Q: Have you ever been on a flight with number 8?
No, I’ve never been on a plane. :(
But he’s flying for a good cause in the morning. And I’ve already wished him luck!! :-)

Q: Have you ever been a co-worker with number 6?
Umm…we were both prefects in school. Does that count?

Q: Have you ever wanted to punch number 2 in the face?
Ahem. My lovely big brother!! He’s taught me all my manners. How he did it is a different matter altogether. So I’d refrain from even having such feelings because before I feel it, he’d have punched me back already.

Q: Has number 1 ever met your mother?
Oooh, that’s a toughie! We have enough mirrors in our house though.

Q: How did you meet number 6?
Middle school. We were in different sections but had a common Hindi&Sanskrit teacher for whom we both carried notebooks from our respective classes.
Uff! What a way to meet someone!

Q: Did you ever accidentally, physically hurt number 11?
No no, never. Or did I, Amiya?

Q: What is the best memory you have with number 8?
This is too hard. I can’t choose.

Q: Do you live close to 7?
No. :(
But considering the kind of distances I’m used to traveling in this city, she’s not too far.

Q: What is number 2's favourite food?
Oh he’s a foodie. Eats everything from Mexican to Mughlai to Ma’s special paranthas. I don’t think he has any particular favourites here.

Q: Out of your top 12, which one would you say is the funniest?
I could give it to (5) but their sense of humour I don’t get.
But Mansi and Tarun might have to share it with Amiya. I just cannot single out anybody.

Q: If you could change one thing about number 5, what would it be?
I’d change their balls.

Q: Say something nice about number 11:
I just did. Funny!! And everybody here knows that she writes very well. And oh, she’s got a superbly functioning brain. She can do the entire course for an exam in one day. :O

Q: Which one lives the farthest away?
Karan, Neha and Jayant live in different states. But in a month’s time, Ruhi will be the farthest. It’s Chennai calling for her. :D

Q: Which one do you hang out with the most?
Ok now I’m being boring but I can’t pick one person again

Q: Who is the loudest?
That'll be me. Tarun has his moments but I rule. :D

Q: The quietest?
I don’t befriend quiet people. :P
Seriously, none of them can even be termed ‘quiet’ so there’s no question of quietest.

Q: Which bike does number 12 own?
He doesn't! :)

Q: Have you travelled anywhere with number 8?
Not really, although I’ve travelled the most with him. Tolerating Himesh Reshammiya and other shady musicians has been one of our greatest endeavours while travelling together.

Q: If you gave number 5 a $100 tonight, what would they spend it on?
I’d kill before doing that because I’m certain that they won’t learn manners with that money. :-/

DONE! :D

Tagged

Okay people!!! My first tag on this blog! Whooppiieeee!!
1.Pick out a scar you have, and explain how you got it?
There’s one on the inside of my right thigh. Childhood story - I was actually acting like a dumb monkey – was on my bicycle and moving in circles in a park where there was lots of sand and mud. Kept ghoomoing and ghoomoing and ghoomoing and expectedly fell real bad! The leg got cut by the cover of the cycle’s chain or something.

2. What is on the walls in your room?
A clock, a calendar and a lizard. Ugh!

3. What does your phone look like?
Pretty! :P
It’s black and it has rounded edges so it keeps falling – as in, if it tries to fall I can’t get a grip of it and it ends up hitting the ground! Rock solid!
4. What music do you listen to?
My mood decides that. Barring Himesh Reshammiya, hip-hop and metal, I can listen to anything.

5. What is your current desktop picture?
Hehehee…
Sorry, just that this question will reveal my predictable side. It’s a picture of a leaf – green! But a very pretty picture! Zoomed in and all.

6. What do you want more than anything right now?

Oh there are so many things! Don’t get me started.

7. Do you believe in gay marriage?
Umm...yeah! To each his own! Just let people do what they want to. Why an issue is made out of everything, I just don’t get it.

8. What time were you born?
I was born at 10:55 p.m.
:P

9. Are your parents still together?
Yeah
10. What are you listening to?
Just the keys of my keyboard going tap-tap

11. What's something people may not know about you?
That I’m also messy and untidy and unhygienic at times. :P

12. The last person to make you cry?
Last person who did or last person who ever will?

13. What is your favourite perfume/cologne?
I’ve been using the same fragrance for almost 2 years now and am finally bored of it. But I haven’t found anything better yet so it’s still Nike for Woman!
14. What kind of hair/eye color do you like on the opposite sex?

Seriously, it does not matter! There are so many other things/issues that I’d like to have a preference for than dumb hair/eye colour.

15. Do you like pain killers?

Huh? Like them as in, enjoy them? NO!
Like them as in, for the purpose they serve? Not even that! One of the most useless scientific discoveries!

16. Are you too shy to ask someone out?
Nope!

17. Favourite pizza topping?
Jalapenos AND olives. Yummm! :D

18. If you could eat anything right now, what would it be?
CHINESE! My bro promised me a Chinese dinner and did not finally get it. :

19. Who was the last person you made mad?
Erm…I don’t wanna think about that. And frankly, I don’t know.

20. Is anyone in love with you?
I hope so.

DONE! Not tagging anyone. Pick it if you like it. :-)

Update

This is of days dedicated to sleep, laziness, juices, socializing, Orkutting, and a little bit of craft-work! :P

Oh yes, standing in front of the mirror to admire my new hairstyle too! Heee...
Seriously, if you're in South Delhi, you must check out Harry and Shanti's at South Ex. The man who did my hair is Kamal. The place has been a better experience than the Meghnas and the Madonnas of Green Park. Much better! Imagine, my friend who accompanied me there loved what happened to my hair so much that she got hers cut as well. :D

D day is coming closer and as time is passing, I'm more scared than excited. An all-new world, new people, new place, new routine....the thought is scary! I'm trying not to think too much though. Just hoping to take it all as it comes.

I went to Dilli Haat after really long last night and they've erected a weird information console in the middle of nowhere. The fruit beer was too sweet, the chat was too sweet, and it was a not-nice experience. Plus, another friend did not let me buy some chunky jewellery that I liked 'coz apparently it was not worth the price and also that I need to reduce my expenses on 'such' things as I will spend more than half my days in formals now. :|

Not that you don't probably already know, but the heat has gotten REAL bad in the last 3 days! I don't feel like stepping out of my house, so the idea of playing becomes even more far-fetched. Craving for some badminton! :(

Oh, by the way, since we're on the topic of good and bad things happening around, now Gulati's at Pandara Road is also not as great as it used to be. In vegetarian food, its specialty for me was the dal makhani. It served the best dal in town! But it was so bloody ordinary last week that I wondered why we were paying so much!! A dhaba near my bro's office makes better dal!
So I'm not going there again.
Speaking of food, Bengali Sweets in South Ex serves amazing Chinese food. Yes, you got that right! We took the risk of ordering that kind of food in that kind of a restaurant but it turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. Was actually better than what I'd had at Bercos a day before that!

On a non-serious note, I think Bisleri mixes some intoxicating stuff in its water. This past Sunday, the more water I had, the more I felt and acted drunk. I know, sad that I was getting high on water but even so! I'd planned not to dance at a family function ('coz of the heat again) but who was I kidding. Not only did I dance, I danced non-stop like crazy! With cousins, with chachis and tais, and alone too! Danced away from the dance floor as well - where the food was being served. I'd completely lost it. And that same intoxication made me completely check out this superhot guy (who, by the way, is married!). Really! Tall, fair, handsome, awesome dancer, and just super-duper hot! Sources tell me that he's even done some modelling. Bloody! Married he is!!
But I still had some fun with him thanks to some distant aunt of mine. :P
Although, I still don't know his name; you don't need that on dance floors. :D

And now I'm out of stories to narrate. So until next time, bbyeee!!! :-)

B-O-R-E-D

This might be boring.

I am bored.

People are boring me.

Life’s become boring.

This stupid word keeps making a comeback.

You see, I am boring you too.

There is nothing new that I am doing/ did/ bought/ said/ thought/ tried/ blah and blah.

What I did do today was spend a whopping 200 bucks on getting some notes photocopied. 200!! Load of crap it is, I have to tell you. Precious money...I could have bought the silver earrings I’ve been eyeing for so long! Haye!

I thought one cat had littered in my backyard, turns out that another one did in my next door neighbours’ adjacent backyard. Talk about seeing (more) creepy kittens around! And NDMC only has a dog-nuisance helpline; nothing for cats. Biased fools!

My personal-bad-weather is almost over. I see green leaves popping out. There is a little less dust in the air. I am kinda happy. Of course, gonna have to live with the heat for many more months so we’re just avoiding that topic.

I am also wondering how the world would have completely crashed if there was no humour around. At least mine would have. So lots of kisses for all the people who make me laugh!! (May I put two more exclamation marks please?)

I dropped the receiver of my landline last night (for the nth time) and now it refuses to produce enough sound for me to be able to hear what the other person is saying. It has such a crippling effect! I almost don’t have a phone in my room!

Did you know that the 7:58 a.m. metro from Central Secretariat remains stationed at the platform for 5 minutes before moving? It is so unbelievably unsettling to sit in a train which refuses to move!

It also turns out that 3 hours is a very long time if you have to write non-stop, are feeling suffocated, sleepy, tired, puke-ish, and more! Ugh!
I just have 2 more exams left. :D
Sleeplessness can also make you act extremely drunk. Come meet me on the morning of my next exam, you’ll know. But people don’t appreciate any of it at that time. And they don’t even understand that I can’t help it. :-(

Been blabbering, have I?

Boring, is it?

Told ya, didn’t I?

Sowry! Or soury? Or plain sorry?

Ok ok, going.
